Tha Audio Bully

Greetings and Happy Holidays my blog reading, net-addicted, cyber-surfers...My life is like a roller-coaster ride without brakes. Time moves fast and opportunities are short...so let's get it in.

The new album is moving at a smooth and steady pace. I have eight songs recorded and several more written. I’m taking my time with this project, collecting the best beats I can from producers worldwide. Originally the title was "Verbal Sorcery," but due to recent developments, I thought a name change was appropriate. The new title is "Tha Audio Bully," cuz I got competition scared to get on a track with me.

Back in August I got an email from this cat from San Diego, CA who wanted to do a track with me for his album. He sent me the track, the beat was cool, it had a classic Southern Cali sound. He recorded his first verse and the chorus so I had a feel for the track, then sent it to me. I sent it back to him with my verse a week later and he changed his mind. After listening to both verses he felt that I would outshine him on his own song. (real talk) I was surprised by his email so I contacted him directly and asked what the problem was.

He broke it down like this. The industry (in the US) is too unstable for a new artist to be sonned on his own record. If he was Jay-Z and my verse was better it wouldn’t matter cuz he was already successful. In our case, he gave me respect that the verse was dope, but he wasn’t ready for it. I was flattered and insulted at the same time. On the one hand it's an ego booster to know my verses are getting comparisons with industry heavyweights like Method Man, Ludacris and Big Pun. On the flip-side, it's wack that some cats feel intimidated by what I write so there’s less people (on my level) to work with. After that conversation I changed the album title to “Tha Audio Bully.”

Lately my time is spent preparing for the Midem conference next month. As you know, the Midem is one of the biggest music conferences in Europe. I go to Cannes and spend a week in the sunny French Riviera, networking and promoting various business ventures. Each year there’s a theme for the conference where a particular country like Sweden, Japan or Africa provides the shows and entertainment. Last year was good. South Africa provided a variety of artists performing rock, blues, hip-hop and soul. I learned allot about digital promotion and marketing for independent artists (artists without a major deal) with a budget under $500. I’m not sure what the country theme is this year, but my expectations are high.

As a result of the information I learned last year, my team has become more focused and more internet savvy. Changes were made to all the company websites www.tygervinum.com, www.vinumousrecords.com and atasteofvinum.blogspot.com. We added an exclusive offer for a free track off my last album “Grindin Muzik.” Check out the websites for details. Also, we’ve turned some of my paintings into designs for clothing, hats, shoes, skateboards, phone covers, mouse pads and a million other items. You can see what the hype is about and buy gifts for friends and family by going to T.V. zazzle store or T.V. cafepress store.  misadventures are the stuff of legend, but lately life has been pleasantly calm. I’ve been to a few good parties and a few shows but nothing worth mentioning. The weather here is in the minus everyday and more snow is on the way. It's already snowed several times this month, so it's going to be a white Christmas. Staying on the grind keeps me warm, while the weak hide from the elements.

Being inside may keep you safe... but going outside may bring you success. (food for thought) I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe, prosperous and memorable Happy New Year.

Until next we speak, Be well
